Research Statement

The primary goal of our lab is to understand biological processes at the molecular & atomic level, with the ultimate aim of using this knowledge to tackle specific problems in human health and disease. Our research encompasses a wide variety of projects directed towards the development of strategies and methods from the rational design, chemical synthesis and chemo-enzymatic synthesis, in silico and experimental screening of chemical libraries (small synhtetic molecules, peptides, biopolymers and natural products) for a wide variety of applications. We utilize modern robotic synthetic and NMR methodologies complemented by numerous biophysical (fluorescence, CD, ITC, DSC) and bioinformatic techniques to characterize the dynamic, structural and thermodynamic properties of the studied systems as also their interactions. Our lab operates under the ISO:17025 accreditation.

Current research in our lab is underway to explore:

(i) Near Infra Red Imaging agents (NIRI, NIRII) and their application as theranostics

(ii) Peptide-drug conjugates, small ligands and peptides (stabled peptides, cell penetrating peptides, peptide catalysts)

(iii) Pharmacokinetics (Our lab operates under the ISO:17025 accreditation).

(iv) Peptides and Natural Products as Potential Therapeutic Agents & their applications in Nanobiotechnology.

(v) Biocatalysis and Organocatalysis.

(vi) Network Pharmacology,  molecular modeling and computer-aided drug design.

(vii) Plants as sources of bioactive compounds.
